Prepping for quilting............. from Exuberant Color

It was time to prep two more quilts to be sent out for quilting. This quilt top is only 53.5" wide so this 58" black and white fabric is sufficient for the back. It was nice to not have to piece a backing.

I had already searched through the Wishwell Weather Report fabric and found 2 pieces that would work for the back. The apricot is full width and the green is about 14" wide for this backing. Batting was cut for both quilts and then I turned on the iron and pressed the 2 backings.

Another thing I want to do this year is make a test block for all of my dies and hopefully one a week. I started yesterday with this Pine Burr die. I remember a friend of mine made a quilt with this pattern back in the late 1990s and I liked the quilt.

Yes, it did snow................ from Exuberant Color

This was the scene around 9:30 yesterday morning. I think we had around an inch of snow when it was all done. The good part is how fast it will melt today when it gets close to 50 this afternoon. We may get a little snow Thursday morning too, the first day of spring.

The good news yesterday was the Amaryllis saved from several years ago is blooming. I was happy to see it was a double white one.

Sunday Stash October 27, 2024 from Quilt Paint Create

No change in the numbers.

I had quilt group this week, and one of the members was downsizing. She sent two boxes of odds and ends to pass around. I only took a few bits, too little to count.

The pile includes some dyed cheesecloth and batting and a scrap of vinyl. Our homework is to make two things from what we took. The group didn’t decide that until everything was distributed. I’ll definitely have to add from my stash.

I don't like days with an appointment in the middle, breaking up time to work on anything. In the morning before I had to leave I was looking through this bin of Cherrywood hand dyed fabric. September 2023 OMG Finish from Quilt Paint Create

My September OMG was to finish the challenge quilt, which I called Still Life. The photo doesn’t do justice to the background fabric.

Except for the veins in the leaves, I either dyed or painted all the fabrics. I learned the free form piecing technique at a class I took at Guild several years ago. The quilt is the size of a cutting mat.

The inspiration for the next challenge is hanging on my design wall, where I can listen to what it has to say.

I’m Back to Sewing, Finally from The Snarky Quilter

Looking for backings............ from Exuberant Color

I spent a couple hours looking through my larger yardage pieces for a batik mottled fabric to use for borders and back of the latest quilt top. There is only one piece that is large enough and it is either navy or charcoal, not sure which.

Dyed And Over Dyed Small Fabrics, Waiting For Inspiration from Quilts + Color

This was an ongoing project to dye and overdye these smaller pieces of fabric.

Some only have two layers of color but some have many more.

I am taking my time deciding how I will make the best use of them.

What Quilts Are Ready To Bind from Quilts + Color

This quilt is the highest priority to bind when I complete the Olympics.

It will take a lot of time as it not only will need hand finished binding but will need 4 casings for slats to make it hang properly.

I already have a special spot to display it for maximum enjoyment.

This is a quilt that was finished in 2020. It was definitely a time lapse quilt.

I silk screened the heart motifs over 30 years ago, overdyed the squares about 8 years before I constructed it, and constructed it several years before it was finished.

It was one of 12 quilts finished in 2020.

The year started with 29 works in progress and finished with 26.
